What To Do In The First 3 Minutes When Stranded On The Road
Breaking down on the road can happen to anyone. What matters is making the right decisions in those first moments of panic. Here, in order, is what you need to do in the first three minutes.
1. Move the vehicle to a safe place
If the car is still driveable and road conditions allow, pull over to the right-hand lane or onto the hard shoulder. Traffic density and visibility are critical considerations.
2. Switch on your hazard lights and place a warning triangle
Turn on your hazards immediately. Place a reflector or warning triangle at least 30 metres behind your vehicle. In darkness or foggy conditions, double that distance.
3. Locate your position and call for help
Open the location function on your phone. When you call Trabzon Oto Kurtarma (0537 495 18 61), the operator will ask for your exact position. Sharing your location via Google Maps or Apple Maps ensures the fastest possible response.
What not to do
- Do not get out and walk on the road — this is especially dangerous on dual carriageways and motorways.
- Do not push your vehicle. If there is an engine fault or tyre problem, attempting to restart may make things worse.
- Before accepting a "helping hand" from a stranger, speak first with a tow company you know and trust.
These three simple steps will, in most situations, keep you safe while you wait for help. When you call, we set out — stay calm and leave the rest to us.
